Skirt Sewing

Hello. Well not much sewing happening with me at the moment. Work has been quite hectic and the humidity has been a bit draining. I come home and have not been very inspired. I'm hoping the weather will cool down soon. I know that seems ridiculous to people on the other side of the world but what can I say. My daughter thinks I'm crazy as she is Canada working in a ski field and it has been a very cold winter for a little Aussie girl. She has survived and loved every minute of it. Sadly for me she is going to stay for summer but good luck to her, what a wonderful experience.

Back to skirt sewing. I made another quick knit skirt. It really takes no time at all and they are practical and comfortable.
I think I bought this fabric from Charlie Girl fabrics. A bit of an extravagance with postage but they have some lovely knits. This is quite thick so it will be an excellent trans seasonal skirt.
All I did was slightly shape the skirt, sewed it on my overlocker and put elastic round the waist.
Quick and easy.
I have cut out my fabric for my muslin for my dress but haven't sewn anything yet. I should hurry, March is slipping away.

Inspiration

Oscar De La Renta dress. Just beautiful. I love the blue and white fabric. Evidently a stretch sateen fabric. I would love one of these dresses. Alas a couple of problems, it doesn't come in my size and also its over $1000 , well out of my price range.

Luckily I sew. It won't look exactly the same but hopefully I will have a lovely blue and white dress.
In my stash i found this fabric.
A lovely stretch cotton. I think I bought from Spotlight last year
The  pattern I think I will use is the Emery dress. A challenge in itself doing a FBA but I will give it a go.
The other source I will use is a RTW dress I have . It is one of my favourite plus size labels, an Australian label, i own this ship. I actually have 2 dresses in the style I like. The difference is they finish higher than the natural waist, more towards an empire line but not quite and they have a pleated lower skirt.
This is where my dilemma is, the Cynthia Rowley pattern Simplicity 1873 is probably closer to my ready to wear dress so possibly i should use that. Of course i should do a muslin , not something i ever do. Possibly I will try both patterns and see how I go.

Pattern Giveaway

I have a weakness, well actually I have quite a few but patterns and fabric and probably at the top. When I buy patterns I have been known to buy the same one twice. A bit dumb but I get carried away. Nothing more exciting than patterns arriving in the post . Oh wait there is, fabric arriving in the post or in my shopping bag. My weaknesses exposed!

Anyway I was trying to organise my patterns and found I had 2 copies of these. I was wondering if anyone is interested in them. I am happy to post them.
