I cant remember how many times I have made this pattern but probably at least 6 or 7 times, some more successful than others. I feel there are several reasons, we're not going out much, I don't really need more clothes, although that's not entirely true and my fabric and sewing room was doing my head in. So when we went into lockdown over Christmas and January I decided to tidy my sewing room. So I refolded all my fabric. This took quite a bit of time because my back kept hurting, I organised a thread holder and sorted out my patterns. I bought some white boxes to put projects in to give a more unified look. I'm very happy now.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZtsun89cLmVZE5U9eEogdT2jJeTTtxdOYEIgO61OP3YvjzHUUVUbVIm-yjkBXnbWgmAhMFJwQg-6e2CdfBQ2kMy2XgwBjzs38OwusQputVXnr-VDRO-6ofl8ZmBddHgZa6HznJblcDHF8/s2048/IMG_1078.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZtsun89cLmVZE5U9eEogdT2jJeTTtxdOYEIgO61OP3YvjzHUUVUbVIm-yjkBXnbWgmAhMFJwQg-6e2CdfBQ2kMy2XgwBjzs38OwusQputVXnr-VDRO-6ofl8ZmBddHgZa6HznJblcDHF8/s320/IMG_1078.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHw6lzh9kx2euiBI9RBsAY-j1R0_8WV_kc4W2hnrAWpkfzXrV_H-fLpJyuQ_k-OSwIM6jbwUbUlszYGYl2moAw-7ud2RqR2tVLKEE2IRIPTGvbJDCukVAV1SXlRUT73dkOG9SyvnHC8oVM/s2048/IMG_1079.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHw6lzh9kx2euiBI9RBsAY-j1R0_8WV_kc4W2hnrAWpkfzXrV_H-fLpJyuQ_k-OSwIM6jbwUbUlszYGYl2moAw-7ud2RqR2tVLKEE2IRIPTGvbJDCukVAV1SXlRUT73dkOG9SyvnHC8oVM/s320/IMG_1079.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilU0oIcmM6bF_jwxPs3Q0u6cbqktTcEVmRpgyCw3HX2hIwRAx_LkM-nK1xhO5eUfR65GAmXIcqjUFe32Pw_ipTAgCU-nNOjUaBZ3okrIKy5NKQPZ7-LE7tj_KAN6Kd4jAR89yI2xNltLgO/s2048/IMG_1081.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilU0oIcmM6bF_jwxPs3Q0u6cbqktTcEVmRpgyCw3HX2hIwRAx_LkM-nK1xhO5eUfR65GAmXIcqjUFe32Pw_ipTAgCU-nNOjUaBZ3okrIKy5NKQPZ7-LE7tj_KAN6Kd4jAR89yI2xNltLgO/s320/IMG_1081.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>So now I feel so much better. I had a lovely time ordering these fabrics. They are all from <a href="https://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/new-additions">Tessuti's</a>. <br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> The bottom black fabric is a ridged stretch, which I love. I am tempted to buy all the colours in this fabric. The next is a corduroy with stretch so will make a lovely pair of pull on pants. Then the spot which may become a shirt. A checked stripe another pair of pants and then 2 stretch fabrics for tops. They are all beautiful fabrics. I just need to sew them up now.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>mandysaundershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03291752435635883234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-561832976173941154.post-40909143151751861452020-05-18T22:08:00.002-07:002020-05-18T22:08:48.377-07:00Pandemic sewing<div>I certainly lost enthusiasm for sewing as Covid 19 took hold. My sons wedding was off in April because everything was closed, plus we couldn't get to Victoria and you could only have 5 people at the wedding. They did get married at the end of March which was lovely for them. It was live so we saw it.</div><div><br /></div><div>My sewing came back. I finished the flower girl dress but have left the hem to finish just before the reception that hopefully they are having in October.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDqEPW9Tza5eQTe_T_c2GXbb4Gy2GKBMzLyIs4yDepkNGv-onBQhMu5kC4BgwZdn7sfv1VVE5oGkj2_T7XcS9aWKlNOKIBkWPIuLesHW9I38wEcijAJyAqmKSO3RZ5F85jHRWu7rA6XEm1/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDqEPW9Tza5eQTe_T_c2GXbb4Gy2GKBMzLyIs4yDepkNGv-onBQhMu5kC4BgwZdn7sfv1VVE5oGkj2_T7XcS9aWKlNOKIBkWPIuLesHW9I38wEcijAJyAqmKSO3RZ5F85jHRWu7rA6XEm1/s320/UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_c82.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">It turned out well. she wouldn't try it on.</div><div><br /></div><div>My wedding sewing involved several sews. I started with the <a href="https://www.cashmerette.com/products/montrose-top-pdf-pattern" target="_blank">Montrose Top</a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9xGWS57zRKyljB3sm-H8A6Wb6COEY62dVmO8BVnd36yHAuXn92l1QEZu1D0mN17cejgMLSDd6L58buX_GqY8FikvOWVd1Uhik-GKnZsiJtOQDFNnZhjM_h7vgGFB364jYx8ZrCCcjkR9o/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9xGWS57zRKyljB3sm-H8A6Wb6COEY62dVmO8BVnd36yHAuXn92l1QEZu1D0mN17cejgMLSDd6L58buX_GqY8FikvOWVd1Uhik-GKnZsiJtOQDFNnZhjM_h7vgGFB364jYx8ZrCCcjkR9o/s320/IMG_0656.jpeg" /></a></div><div>I love these patterns . They fit straight out of the box. This fitted really well in the neckline. I used a size 20 C/D cup then used 22 waist and 24 hips. It fits well, a bit loose which is what I wanted.</div><div><br /></div><div>My next part was to do the high front and low back. To do that I used <a href="https://mimi-g-style-inc.myshopify.com/products/the-katie" target="_blank">Katie Dress</a>. I drew the long curve at the back and then scooped the front. My practice turned out really well.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpBhWqU-wkk_ZeX2GtnUpJkfi6n6w0ZBLvcg3Xax2rD6z6RExLZ9g9DkD2j4GIwQQ6wjou2YOyfrntoZccag9tV-TPL7yx2yLhMAIV_ln7qD9w7I4W7D1UTlGDgGpZRwX99QG2Ok6gfJPX/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="5184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpBhWqU-wkk_ZeX2GtnUpJkfi6n6w0ZBLvcg3Xax2rD6z6RExLZ9g9DkD2j4GIwQQ6wjou2YOyfrntoZccag9tV-TPL7yx2yLhMAIV_ln7qD9w7I4W7D1UTlGDgGpZRwX99QG2Ok6gfJPX/s320/IMG_1745.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7e2Q1TAAmECbRoDJRKAZUKYBHtlBoR2-Ck25MJuB_JYtbT0ZmVh8CpJEioQ078_B7GJ_j3ydkJMlMVx29P6GPziqqWaNov1htY-5q8rgq7iQTAuSJZGiUWcBr40D-5Hor2sKjkX5WaAOA/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="5184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7e2Q1TAAmECbRoDJRKAZUKYBHtlBoR2-Ck25MJuB_JYtbT0ZmVh8CpJEioQ078_B7GJ_j3ydkJMlMVx29P6GPziqqWaNov1htY-5q8rgq7iQTAuSJZGiUWcBr40D-5Hor2sKjkX5WaAOA/s320/IMG_1746.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxOH5TmporVKS7H1crJpdeyb871PAOTxV66U1Wtb5YbVd-DKCe5W87fgFYpw5OmjtAC2Sb3heTW_V7r38DBc-TeuJTqyvyK2JYYObxlddFXIF_oCrn0MY9kSemkb-hbR-1lwZcsE8iAr_G/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="5184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxOH5TmporVKS7H1crJpdeyb871PAOTxV66U1Wtb5YbVd-DKCe5W87fgFYpw5OmjtAC2Sb3heTW_V7r38DBc-TeuJTqyvyK2JYYObxlddFXIF_oCrn0MY9kSemkb-hbR-1lwZcsE8iAr_G/s320/IMG_1747+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div>The fabric was from <a href="https://tessuti.com.au/">Tessuti fabrics</a> and is a lovely crepe so it has beautiful drape. I love the idea of the Hi Low hem exaggerated and the pants underneath. I won't make it quite so long as the images as I think that would be annoying all night. I love Caroline Herrera"s outfit, so stylish and elegant. That's the idea I want to emulate. The 3/4 sleeves and the loose fitting top. I love the colours of the middle image, just gorgeous and I love those pants.<br />
<br />
My fabric I bought from Tessuti's when their Chatswood store was closing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi99L56JRtZg_yiKVMeERmEDYg9x1O0DymYy6rIuWujmWpD3-C2qCf5rXfXBfHMQOwllCH_tIZUSXnubLt68Mf-sy6pqUy2Xz5uLrLxKVSn54lF0o9RTPGiDu41gnAVO3NbElrUiemN-70J/s1600/IMG_0469.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi99L56JRtZg_yiKVMeERmEDYg9x1O0DymYy6rIuWujmWpD3-C2qCf5rXfXBfHMQOwllCH_tIZUSXnubLt68Mf-sy6pqUy2Xz5uLrLxKVSn54lF0o9RTPGiDu41gnAVO3NbElrUiemN-70J/s320/IMG_0469.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
The top fabric is a crepe de chine and the bottom is a knit for the pants. For the top I will use the <a href="https://www.cashmerette.com/products/montrose-top-pdf-pattern">Montrose Top</a> . I love casmerette patterns because they fit and I don't need to make adjustments , I can make it straight out of the envelope, gotta love that. The pants will be <a href="https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/linda-stretch-pant/">Linda pants</a> from Style Arc. They are an easy pull on knit pant. That i have made several times.<br />
<br />
The ideas are there, I just need to get sewing.<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing !<br />

I have been doing some sewing , however not too much. Yesterday I made my grandaughter a pseudo Frozen dress for Christmas. Shes only 21 months so I don't think she will care that is not identical to the real costume. I loved sewing this.<br />

The white fabric I had in my stash. The pale blue knit I had in my stash . The starry net I bought from Spotlight and the Frozen fabric for the cape was from ebay. I just gathered the cape along the back bodice. The pattern I used was <a href="https://www.ellieandmac.com/collections/girls-dress-patterns/products/kids-90s-dress-pattern">I Love the 90's dress by Ellie and Mac</a> It was super easy and such fun to make.<br />
<br />
My future daughter-in -law asked me to make Ariana's flower girl dress . My son is getting married in April. The inspiration was this image<br />

The only pattern I found that was close was on etsy, Frilled yoke dress, the top right image, ( I can't seem to upload the link). So to try the pattern I made a little cotton dress with fabric from my stash. Ariana is the bottom picture. It turned out well. I now have to change the yoke to square and add a frill at the neck. Luckily I have till April to perfect the dress.<br />

It is difficult to take a photo of her standing still. The fabric was from Spotlight and I added some trim I had to the navy dress. I will use scraps mostly, but I saw this dog fabric and the flowers and I couldn't resist. She is 17months old and not particularly big. I made the 9-12 months which fits her really well now but I will make the next size up next time. A quick ,easy and fun sew.<br />

Anyway we have well and truly cooled down in Sydney , its been really cold ( well for here anyway) and my wardrobe is seriously lacking. My clothing needs have really changed since I retired. I need casual relaxed clothes and I have a serious lack of these. So what to sew.<br />
<br />
We went to Tasmania earlier this year and I made the <a href="https://www.cashmerette.com/products/pembroke-dress-tunic-pdf-pattern">Cashmerette pembroke dress and tunic</a>. I seriously love this pattern.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYaNt9LvOWcmdJA0QGqOP1PhELFZnIF4bOXIeswrZSD7MEyddqpW6TTDLBbFdg80urG_8YWlH3IbLKJvwUnsOLQ8pVnuOSLel29JkWsJD7qyzc7xGKsS7vQY7wY1WDIeRjx7gDefboce78/s1600/IMG_0106.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYaNt9LvOWcmdJA0QGqOP1PhELFZnIF4bOXIeswrZSD7MEyddqpW6TTDLBbFdg80urG_8YWlH3IbLKJvwUnsOLQ8pVnuOSLel29JkWsJD7qyzc7xGKsS7vQY7wY1WDIeRjx7gDefboce78/s320/IMG_0106.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
I made the size 20 in the bust and graded out to size 24 at the hips. I really like the fit because I hate clothes that are 2 clingy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Don't you just love the outdoor bath. the fabric , I think the fabric was from Tessuti's a couple of years ago. It is a lovely knit that has quite a bit of body, so comfortable to wear.<br />
I plan to make quite a few of these in the next few weeks. I want to make a few with the turtle neck as well. Here are some fabrics I intend to use:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib8yRLF9vDbJxt8RHK9wVpfQgvsRDXMiuoO4ROrpwmtXmPWPUh1vwW2qH0OjJt_rliGZhT5m0WgghWBAKq90hGZiGFtUkrUtp4nqV1trfZJFPnM2q7hGIYcqc_hyeK1FIHKt2431daCGaW/s1600/IMG_0230+2.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib8yRLF9vDbJxt8RHK9wVpfQgvsRDXMiuoO4ROrpwmtXmPWPUh1vwW2qH0OjJt_rliGZhT5m0WgghWBAKq90hGZiGFtUkrUtp4nqV1trfZJFPnM2q7hGIYcqc_hyeK1FIHKt2431daCGaW/s320/IMG_0230+2.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I love Cashmerette patterns they fit so well.<br />
<br />
Hopefully I will keep blogging. Happy Sewing ! <br />

I can't believe I haven't posted since June. My how time flies. There has not been a great deal of sewing being done. I lost my drive to do anything. I'm not quite sure but I think the reason may be that I just had a difficult year last year and couldn't put much energy into sewing.<br />
<br />
A new year has started and my world has had enormous changes. My parents are moving house after being in their house since 1958. My Dad is a collector of books and films so it has been a difficult process. He has trouble parting with things, so it has been very traumatic for him and he is quite frail at the moment. Mum is going so well I think the move for her will be a huge benefit and improve her life so much.<br />
<br />
I have retired from teaching. Our school year ends in December so I am all done, which is sad and exciting at the same time. The classroom was just wearing me down. I have loved my work but I want to do other things while I still can. Most of all I would just like some time so I'm not exhausted all the time.<br />
<br />
My plans for sewing are to make a dress for my birthday. I turn 60 in a couple of weeks so I need a dress to wear to lunch with my family. There are 2 options: Option1<br />

I love this dress and there were so many variations with the neckline on line. I'm still undecided about the neckline and whether to change it or wear a camisole underneath, either way I will need to do something. The fabric is a rayon i bought from Spotlight last year. I have quite a bit so hopefully that would work. I will make the midi length because that will be like a maxi on me anyway.<br />
<br />
Option 2:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7pc__wdjUyHnyl-4RlIzOaDkdlzBw44OOIk_SFmTFaV4WCi187IGEImSsEIKgy0hUbpWjCrAbevQ_IjJuvvOci9016ZC4WP9iLaiQhNAPv-zl0dLplJhSsxRo-NqSWrCH7maOC-sAmzcO/s1600/IMG_3361.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7pc__wdjUyHnyl-4RlIzOaDkdlzBw44OOIk_SFmTFaV4WCi187IGEImSsEIKgy0hUbpWjCrAbevQ_IjJuvvOci9016ZC4WP9iLaiQhNAPv-zl0dLplJhSsxRo-NqSWrCH7maOC-sAmzcO/s320/IMG_3361.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMonoChOzb2LyRE9zfygbjNKq3WxhBtoGkJiDe5A6kCqydBkNuJBUNDD3zr9KVlj22hoyYZShmO9tAHFGv0NGMIBEHbM6c0_-02LkS72L47W48bZfl-i49wZ8CoDaAMplS5wTjIv0Bf5pd/s1600/IMG_3362.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMonoChOzb2LyRE9zfygbjNKq3WxhBtoGkJiDe5A6kCqydBkNuJBUNDD3zr9KVlj22hoyYZShmO9tAHFGv0NGMIBEHbM6c0_-02LkS72L47W48bZfl-i49wZ8CoDaAMplS5wTjIv0Bf5pd/s320/IMG_3362.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
I love view B but without the thrill. The fabric is either a linen or a linen mix. I think this would be nice as well. It will be like a maxi on me.<br />
<br />
My gorgeous man asked me to make him a summer shirt as well. I'm not very experienced with shirts but I will try.<br />
<br />
I do have some plans so I just need to sew. I think I said that last year as well.<br />
<br />

After the extended summer that we had , and the longing for cooler weather, it has arrived and of course my sewing is not done. Sydneysiders are renowned for believing winter doesn't exist but at the moment it's hard to deny.<br />
So I need to sew some winter garments. My winter wardrobe has quite a few gaps. I need new basics, such as black tops, some ponti pants that feel like pj's but are actually suitable for work and generally some new clothes that are fun.<br />
When I was in Melbourne I found this gorgeous ponti, from Tessuti's so my first project is this jacket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS0t9GAK6nA1_plObfc9ep8Ig9v_X51qfx8ahsJtnwg2NYOau4hSObXv353vM4aM-hJrBMiLslKUeXcQIDfq0HvCE14aNhcmQ06rOkJxnu02vZkTsw9WFWroC26aJAHdlNuTXPixBBi2aq/s1600/IMG_3145.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS0t9GAK6nA1_plObfc9ep8Ig9v_X51qfx8ahsJtnwg2NYOau4hSObXv353vM4aM-hJrBMiLslKUeXcQIDfq0HvCE14aNhcmQ06rOkJxnu02vZkTsw9WFWroC26aJAHdlNuTXPixBBi2aq/s320/IMG_3145.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I love this fabric. It is quite a subtle pattern. The jacket pattern is <a href="https://butterick.mccall.com/b6254">Butterick 6254. </a><br />
I will just need to make a few fitting adjustments. Then I will get it done.<br />
Other patterns to make<br />

<br />
These are just a few of my ideas, so all I need to do is get started.<br />
I have made a few things lately, I just don't have photos, so as soon as I get those I will post about the makes. That's the thing I find the hardest getting the photos done. Anyway<br />

Anyway I wanted a loose summer dress just like the dresses on <a href="https://lazybones.com.au/collections/women-1/dresses">Lazybones</a> site which is where I bought the fabric from.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5mJIw7Q9A9aKa_RpRTj58cslocQLXQm-CsJ2HoKAmNnec_E1bOE9ZCu703P6IP-TXypu5_dHDA_o2JOtC-L5Qhgre38iETBN2HByHw9zzArMAz3yUqAylLG2YztJde1qv03xvbUiUvVlY/s1600/IMG_1669.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5mJIw7Q9A9aKa_RpRTj58cslocQLXQm-CsJ2HoKAmNnec_E1bOE9ZCu703P6IP-TXypu5_dHDA_o2JOtC-L5Qhgre38iETBN2HByHw9zzArMAz3yUqAylLG2YztJde1qv03xvbUiUvVlY/s320/IMG_1669.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Terrible photo. I still have plenty to learn when using a tripod.<br />
The pattern is <a href="https://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6923">McCall's 6923</a>. I did a full bust adjustment which made the pattern looser anyway and I did a bicep adjustment. I didn't add a zipper, I just did a loop opening. I didn't realise the front was crooked till the photos but I wasn't going to unpick the bodice.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBBvZ9hALIkjKxhfczTJMe0lNnYUkk1hZsBgtdi8hvSQDPV3ujkfM3OLBe3Kt1SdiCdjpvSK7al4-0i3LiJxR7nu80GNoxD06AH6N4tnz26fQoXIghU4VadpPNSwpO0bnnx1qk7AFBoGzE/s1600/IMG_1683.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBBvZ9hALIkjKxhfczTJMe0lNnYUkk1hZsBgtdi8hvSQDPV3ujkfM3OLBe3Kt1SdiCdjpvSK7al4-0i3LiJxR7nu80GNoxD06AH6N4tnz26fQoXIghU4VadpPNSwpO0bnnx1qk7AFBoGzE/s320/IMG_1683.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have my grumpy, serious face on here. I lined the bodice but didn't line the skirt. It is lovely and cool but I'm not particularly happy with the dress. It's lovely material and cool so I will wear it around but probably not that much to work. I don't think I will make this pattern again.<br />
<br />

The top will be a great trans seasonal piece. My main problem is taking the photos anyway here it is<br />

I love this fabric. I bought it from Tessuti's a few years ago. I'm not sure of the composition, but it was a cotton mix I think, I'm not sure. It was a little odd to sew and probably to stiff for my idea. However I was quite happy how the top turned out.<br />
I did make a few adjustments . I decided I wanted a bit more swing to the top so I added 1 1/2 inches to the top and 2 inches to the length. I generally add to the middle to fit across my tummy. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm5Cjq0QB_H2AFq0LfUPkiDfC8W0PjRqLw3c9OmgJx_wSFhj9Gv9WXURhJFXRaH6XhxEYgzDmje0HkTnzes_gk8J73a-6SQf27AiLnbUX54aPgWMILn_rUIp0L4S8uwP2YXBa6KaDV63HC/s1600/IMG_2889.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm5Cjq0QB_H2AFq0LfUPkiDfC8W0PjRqLw3c9OmgJx_wSFhj9Gv9WXURhJFXRaH6XhxEYgzDmje0HkTnzes_gk8J73a-6SQf27AiLnbUX54aPgWMILn_rUIp0L4S8uwP2YXBa6KaDV63HC/s320/IMG_2889.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I didn't make any adjustments on the sleeve width but had I did shorten the sleeves quite a bit.<br />
Next time I make this I need to narrow the shoulders and bring in the neckline slightly. I didn't do a FBA because of the width I added.<br />
Next time I may take the swing out and use a fabric with more drape. I will definitely add the to the length though. I will make this again.<br />
<br />
One more picture. A new edition to our family my beautiful granddaughter.<br />

This summer has been so humid and uncomfortable. Although we just had a week of cooler weather.<br />
Personally I have not had a great start to the year, first my knee and then a flu/virus that knocked me for 6. I was in bed for a week. I missed the first week of school, which is unheard of. Anyway I am starting to feel better. Sewing has not been happening, my plans flew out the window. However I did make a top before I got sick.<br />
It was birthday a week ago so I made a top to go to lunch <a href="http://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-pattern-8124-misses-romper-dress-top.-cynthia-rowley-collection/8124.html">Simplicity 8124 Cynthia Rowley</a><br />
I needed a top that was loose and comfortable. I can't stand anything tight fitting at the moment.<br />

<br />
A super easy and quick top. I made a XL because I wanted it very full and flowing. You could definitely go down a few sizes if you don't like that. I cut quite a few inches off the hem but I am a shorty, next time I will leave it a bit longer . I cut off about 3 inches off the sleeves. The sleeves are exceptionally long.<br />
The fabric was from my stash. I love this blue and I love polka dots. A great success.<br />

This is where we had lunch. The Manly Pavilion at Manly. If ever your in Sydney it's a lovely place with great food.<br />

I have too many ideas and then have trouble starting any, certainly a weakness however not a total disaster, too many ideas is a better option than none at all.<br />
<br />
This January I have time . I'm on holidays and I'm not going away. Potentially a great start, and then a tear in my meniscus puts me out of action. Now I'm on the mend and I can walk, sewing can begin or continue.<br />
<br />
I have a dress underway but for my MAGM project I want to copy this T-shirt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitGAIye1DYKLMFndWX0twIOjYtWBUe-y0s6RK3lykXf7T_rYMmDupnC8Yw8l5lwEVCkzuDBjgCIKWi1fevDIyf4qw4JNhn7HiRpn3OQQ7br5bFJsd4pDsfzJKn9Z_t69b2sRHrnIxjfCxJ/s1600/a18f095d744f96c6d137c470c7f5bbb7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="445" data-original-width="299" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitGAIye1DYKLMFndWX0twIOjYtWBUe-y0s6RK3lykXf7T_rYMmDupnC8Yw8l5lwEVCkzuDBjgCIKWi1fevDIyf4qw4JNhn7HiRpn3OQQ7br5bFJsd4pDsfzJKn9Z_t69b2sRHrnIxjfCxJ/s320/a18f095d744f96c6d137c470c7f5bbb7.jpg" width="215" /></a></div>
I saw this a few years ago and love the trim around the neck. I am going to copy this idea with these trims. The grey fabric I had in my stash and I bought it from the <a href="http://www.thefabricstore.com.au/">The Fabric Store.</a><br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So for the pattern for the T shirt will be Ebony T shirt from Closet case patterns.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To try and keep the idea of sewing outfits rather than just pieces I am going to make pants, <a href="https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/luna-stretch-pant/">Style Arc Luna Stretch Pant </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am using one of these fabrics . One is a cotton stretch and the other is fabric from Style Arc </div>

<br />
Can't wait to start. I need to work out a plan for my summer wardrobe. The weather has been hot and humid and I seem to be lacking cool comfortable dresses and tops.<br />
A bit scary a whole year without purchasing clothes but if you don't try you will never succeed.<br />
<br />
Happy Creating!mandysaundershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03291752435635883234noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-561832976173941154.post-61225628312047095102017-12-30T16:04:00.002-08:002017-12-30T16:04:10.336-08:00A new startCan hardly believe it is so long since my last post. I didn't sew much this year and photographed even less. I had a temporary promotion and was head of our faculty, which was a great experience but longer hours and more work so sewing suffered, I did love the job though.<br />
<br />
A new start for 2018. I've cut my work week back to 3 days which I am really looking forward to. I'm going to be a grandmother in February, all going well and I've joined the RTW fast over at Goodbye Valentino, <a href="http://goodbyevalentino.com/invitation-2/">Goobye Valentino RTW fast.</a><br />
<br />
I am quite excited about this. I have so much fabric and so many patterns that I would like to use and I thought this may be a great challenge. I just need to get my sewing mojo back. My greatest issue is adjusting patterns. I used to sew straight out of the packet but not these days, everything needs adjusting and I procrastinate about this constantly. This is a challenge but one I am hoping to overcome. Hopefully with more time in 2018 thiswon't be an issue anymore.<br />
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaFvLgPAXBhQXHs03Lqryx1_DXk7Xm645kev-LEGBmhBL-LVyeY88reA8dlhKAZG7v1WvoX5Mzb0WyqYp_YvRHN2Jama1BrtDnek8aWemeum48_ZtolTDMgUWqQnBWE92YXhpHSW3qnbXW/s1600/IMG_2931.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaFvLgPAXBhQXHs03Lqryx1_DXk7Xm645kev-LEGBmhBL-LVyeY88reA8dlhKAZG7v1WvoX5Mzb0WyqYp_YvRHN2Jama1BrtDnek8aWemeum48_ZtolTDMgUWqQnBWE92YXhpHSW3qnbXW/s320/IMG_2931.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /><br />
In 2017 I made a couple of <a href="https://store.closetcasepatterns.com/products/ebony-t-shirt-knit-dress-pattern">Ebony T shirt </a>.
Super simple and love them, I have worn these constantly. I will
definitely be making more of these in 2018. I did sew this without any
adjustments<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5-bkMBR4-TmvO9MCmPw2ZKxelvdaXaX17c2D9-RSVPBTrUxFMZ_7apuGda8Gnvb3zsRdfkIGA9Nb82liv722s98Mg_eyno-I1bJoko6UJLhn01Y2wSBg4GZMAB_CsGNwH7jWv71T8QFKz/s1600/IMG_2934.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5-bkMBR4-TmvO9MCmPw2ZKxelvdaXaX17c2D9-RSVPBTrUxFMZ_7apuGda8Gnvb3zsRdfkIGA9Nb82liv722s98Mg_eyno-I1bJoko6UJLhn01Y2wSBg4GZMAB_CsGNwH7jWv71T8QFKz/s320/IMG_2934.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made a knit tube skirt, copied from a RTW skirt which was
about $160.00 AU. The skirt cost me about $ 40.00 to make. The hardest part
was finding the striped red and white fabric. Eventually I found it at <a href="http://www.thedrapery.com.au/">The Drapery.</a><br />
This is a fabric store in Adelaide, they have lovely fabrics worth looking at.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLAmFcjxnM1cz8BK7remynpvs0_g7uhLipqQDhj_3jWAg8fAhYi7usFTnWkQ5152vbmR-Y1gXOmXCJ6nX8jmsNykCEwpxAv5XV4OmGe8UHqIAmhj61WRit_dfNXV1d0TjQoP7UCA_FXgwb/s1600/IMG_2933.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLAmFcjxnM1cz8BK7remynpvs0_g7uhLipqQDhj_3jWAg8fAhYi7usFTnWkQ5152vbmR-Y1gXOmXCJ6nX8jmsNykCEwpxAv5XV4OmGe8UHqIAmhj61WRit_dfNXV1d0TjQoP7UCA_FXgwb/s320/IMG_2933.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made another skirt <a href="https://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6931">McCall 6931</a><br />
The fabric was from <a href="http://tessuti.com.au/">Tessuti fabrics</a> a few years ago. I love the fabric but maybe not the best for this pattern, it is a bit stiff. I haven't worn this yet because I don't have a top that goes with it but I will get to it.<br />
<br />
Looking forward to 2018 more sewing and painting. Happy New Year to everyone. All the best with your sewing.<br />
<br />
Happy Creating! <br />

I thought I would try with a new top. My inspiration has come from RTW striped tops.<br />

<br />
I really like these striped tops. I love the loose shape and the loose sleeves.<br />
When I was folding and tidying my stash in the last holiday I rediscovered this lovely striped fabric that I bought from Tessuti's a couple of years ago and I thought it would make a lovely top using <a href="http://www.stylearc.com.au/stylearc/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=999&category_id=8&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=45">Harlow Top Style Arc</a><br />

So that's my plan. The fabric is so pretty with the floral and stripe. I just have to make time, a commodity that is running short in my life<br />
<br />
Enjoy your sewing !<br />

It was an exciting event in so many ways and India is a confronting destination in so many ways. As sewers and fabric lovers India is a paradise. I wore 3 different saris for the wedding. The fabric in saris is breathtaking, the colours and the silks and embellishments are amazing.<br />

I felt so elegant in these saris, they certainly are a fabulous way to dress. I'm not quite sure what to do with these now but I'm sure I will use the fabric somehow<br />
As for fabric, India is heaven for fabric lovers. There are so many places to buy fabric, its amazing.<br />
We went to an enormous fabric store in Chennai. It was so overwhelming I didn't know where to start.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

There were 2 floors the length of an enormous warehouse. Unfortunately I had to be quite restrained because I did have to carry the fabric home in a suitcase. If I went to India again I would just take an empty suitcase and fill the suitcase with all the beautiful cottons and silks. They are also quite inexpensive, another bonus.<br />
I did purchase these lovely cottons from this store.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9LBXagpWwuSnW97ihNc4lYdXCKSGAOkyuwphyphenhyphennFbEi4Pl6PG-zZJHRHW8Qyh_53Va1z_azqHUOGF0IucjvtaChSI6XuU6vQ3KxQoOFSY46NnKC8ust-HmQJsdWg957NMFnYYZroJ4wxYv/s1600/IMG_1367.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9LBXagpWwuSnW97ihNc4lYdXCKSGAOkyuwphyphenhyphennFbEi4Pl6PG-zZJHRHW8Qyh_53Va1z_azqHUOGF0IucjvtaChSI6XuU6vQ3KxQoOFSY46NnKC8ust-HmQJsdWg957NMFnYYZroJ4wxYv/s320/IMG_1367.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then we went to Jaipur and visited a co-op that was retraining farmers to hand print fabric. Each colour was done individually, just amazing. I bought these silk cottons that feel incredible. There was also an embroidered silk on sale, I could have gone crazy again but again I was restrained. Now of course I'm home I wish I had bought more fabric.<br />

All in all an interesting trip. India is an amazing country that does present challenges. Attending an Indian wedding that went for 3 days and visiting the Taj Mahal are certainly bucket list items that are now ticked off.</div>

<br />
Happy New Year, I forgot to say this in my last post. This post is about the fabric. I bought this fabric from <a href="http://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/new-additions">Tessuti's</a>, I bought the last piece. It is an Italian ponti, not what I would normally use for summer, however I felt a straight skirt would show off the fabric. I dress would be lovely but a little to much pattern for me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIOhkNGZ-JFyZ-6r6_KUqM7VeS_9G4B-ganEtglcFBSsEoADrhfNe99lwz5fS8kCG-AJK0-mF3YGG28eivCjrj-HCy3W_yZtudj0h6UzvBabhL6q-I5rQbkPiifL4wJLQYCYQwedlP8GJ6/s1600/IMG_1361.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIOhkNGZ-JFyZ-6r6_KUqM7VeS_9G4B-ganEtglcFBSsEoADrhfNe99lwz5fS8kCG-AJK0-mF3YGG28eivCjrj-HCy3W_yZtudj0h6UzvBabhL6q-I5rQbkPiifL4wJLQYCYQwedlP8GJ6/s320/IMG_1361.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I just love this fabric there is so much going on. The pattern is <a href="http://www.stylearc.com.au/stylearc/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=744&category_id=3&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=43">STyle Arc Rita Ponte skirt. </a><br />
A simple straight skirt.I lengthened the pattern because I wanted almost a maxi length. I also didn't peg the sides in much because I needed to be able to walk in it.<br />
It will be interesting when I wear this to school and what the boys response to the fabric will be, some of them will be quite intrigued. I have worn this a few times already.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy_5IqdYZ7TES-qhLe6bVj2eZJOq7bWzEloNq7XZ7QIleoud7u7v3GEhS1TGsgJeK1xqgGr0vScZHfPjNdDYUU1kDZvsWsoL0I-GZ1P3nPcqna6enetQAxJQDw8tfdgAE_RbI7gdAKc5Nc/s1600/IMG_1357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy_5IqdYZ7TES-qhLe6bVj2eZJOq7bWzEloNq7XZ7QIleoud7u7v3GEhS1TGsgJeK1xqgGr0vScZHfPjNdDYUU1kDZvsWsoL0I-GZ1P3nPcqna6enetQAxJQDw8tfdgAE_RbI7gdAKc5Nc/s320/IMG_1357.JPG" width="217" /></a></div>
<br />
I am pretty happy with this skirt. Super easy and winning fabric.<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing !<br />

My navy and white striped pants and my white top.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipA3Q8qiaRqMo5uCIZ8nP792HdLvUmTWTesWGMb0AW0d0jIG4f8AI2DJtbCrDulne6Iq_Yc6TjtpWAM8Igs8I_NelNzDwQsmSr4yvLExirwsgCZ09IkqZzrJOKdeLXxy2lIsEWSpkFgaLy/s1600/IMG_1340.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipA3Q8qiaRqMo5uCIZ8nP792HdLvUmTWTesWGMb0AW0d0jIG4f8AI2DJtbCrDulne6Iq_Yc6TjtpWAM8Igs8I_NelNzDwQsmSr4yvLExirwsgCZ09IkqZzrJOKdeLXxy2lIsEWSpkFgaLy/s320/IMG_1340.JPG" width="191" /></a></div>
The pants are <a href="http://www.stylearc.com.au/stylearc/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=771&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=42">Style Arc Tessa pant. </a><br />
I actually made a wearable muslin in black linen, very unlike me, however they turned out really well. I made an adjustment to the front for my belly. I used the Hot Patterns <a href="http://www.hotpatterns.com/fitting-tips-for-a-full-abdomen/">Tutorial for tummy adjustment</a> and these pants fit very comfortably. There is also an excellent full tummy adjustment tutorial at The Curvy Sewing Collective website, <a href="http://curvysewingcollective.com/tutorial-full-tummy-adjustment-pants-or-skirt/">Tummy adjustment</a>. I think I will try this one next time. These pants are wider than I normally wear but I thought it would be nice to try something a bit different.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjytqyQIv6vHB8g4a5DsgDTRfZtaFednq0xN88bVqY7hZUWtSAecUAe1kXFGhwFl6AAB0dB-zugqyDdxzAgu-cAqJDXgf1coXG_lKp2rJvhoLUXIt83xaCUoTi0IIkkG_CqteorSLOCkk61/s1600/IMG_1353.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjytqyQIv6vHB8g4a5DsgDTRfZtaFednq0xN88bVqY7hZUWtSAecUAe1kXFGhwFl6AAB0dB-zugqyDdxzAgu-cAqJDXgf1coXG_lKp2rJvhoLUXIt83xaCUoTi0IIkkG_CqteorSLOCkk61/s320/IMG_1353.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The fabric is a navy and white linen from <a href="http://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/new-additions">Tessuti fabrics. </a><br />
I don't think there is any left online , I did buy it this fabric at the beginning of summer.. I am pretty happy with these and I have cut out another pair of pants already so this is becoming my go to pants pattern this summer.. They are so easy to sew.<br />
The top is <a href="https://butterick.mccall.com/B5356">Butterick 5356.</a><br />
This top is out of print . I made View D and the XXL. I also added gathers at the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOxpAG9BNX2jwOs5F8QOH0pdAzCAJYCnJOuriWciG9FjNki-If8V5z-nUGuT7wTbT_3mEp8HqcOmkUmXvqMfxs6AEIWxwn-lNLchjNYCECeLxTI_UajFihkCIbwPJe39pYvyU4on194yN-/s1600/IMG_1346.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOxpAG9BNX2jwOs5F8QOH0pdAzCAJYCnJOuriWciG9FjNki-If8V5z-nUGuT7wTbT_3mEp8HqcOmkUmXvqMfxs6AEIWxwn-lNLchjNYCECeLxTI_UajFihkCIbwPJe39pYvyU4on194yN-/s320/IMG_1346.JPG" width="177" /></a></div>
The top is quite large so I will make a smaller size next time but its fine for hot, humid days. I really like the sleeves.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigVz-Zbhv4dDd7HpQILUilZhzjf_1X0n_x9L5zuITOMvpXBZTlntnu4HImdGgJpl-cFpxa_hpQXbuP05jI-SpILLFKynOjPfP53Ih0spLs7uhVKe4QnDLBmVinUyLvXmcf8gyfxr93u9SL/s1600/IMG_1352.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigVz-Zbhv4dDd7HpQILUilZhzjf_1X0n_x9L5zuITOMvpXBZTlntnu4HImdGgJpl-cFpxa_hpQXbuP05jI-SpILLFKynOjPfP53Ih0spLs7uhVKe4QnDLBmVinUyLvXmcf8gyfxr93u9SL/s320/IMG_1352.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The bodice is fine, if not quite as narrow as the image on the pattern. The fabric was from my stash. All in all a wearable outfit for summer. Even my daughter thought it was OK.<br />
Happy Sewing!<br />

I think in so many respects the world has gone crazy. We seem to live in fear and turmoil. My year has been busy and unfortunately a lack of sewing and blogging. I have done some sewing but no photos, hopefully tomorrow I will get some photos done.<br />
<br />
The biggest miss this year has been the lack of sewing and blogging. Work was particularly difficult and time consuming. Whenever I seemed to get a bit of time something happened. My Dad had an awful fall and managed to smash his nose and cheekbones and chip his neck vertebrate and squash his spinal cord. As always he is positive and has made an amazing recovery.<br />
<br />
What I have not stopped doing is buying fabric, not as much as usual as I haven't even had time to shop. There does seem to be a navy and blue theme in my purchases.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD-wdpQKZKiGAvOcNHG26m6gqgER7gMjY9eudhGPfmjIwfXUfHxpVE5QVuZszfrDoVg6zGmSEvGzKMoS3yXs52VN8Oxy19QyatBhUwVSs0Lqf193pNkDTsthuHp8pSU2TdjcZeIzSsaBxi/s1600/IMG_1319.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD-wdpQKZKiGAvOcNHG26m6gqgER7gMjY9eudhGPfmjIwfXUfHxpVE5QVuZszfrDoVg6zGmSEvGzKMoS3yXs52VN8Oxy19QyatBhUwVSs0Lqf193pNkDTsthuHp8pSU2TdjcZeIzSsaBxi/s320/IMG_1319.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The spot and the paler blue were from Spotlight and the Navy check was from the <a href="http://www.thedrapery.com.au/category/linen-linen-cotton-blends?page=2">The Drapery.</a><br />
I'm off to India in January to attend a friend of mines son's wedding so I want to make some outfits that are cool and comfortable.<br />
I have been purchasing some clothes though. I just found I had holes in my wardrobe and didn't have time, or maybe even the inclination to sew them. There are still some gaps and this is what I would like to sew. It's time to get back into sewing and blogging because above all I enjoy it.<br />
<br />

I admire people who plan and I decided I should be one of those people. So I started thinking about what I buy in RTW and it is usually plain colours and usually not the latest trends. This summer I'm going to try and stick to this idea. At the moment I love navy and white. A classic combination that always looks smart. This will be my base, pants, tops and skirts in a variety of styles that are cool and comfortable.<br />
My first project are pants and a top using these fabrics.<br />

The stripe is from Tessuti"s a lovely <a href="http://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/linen/products/navy-ivory-sardinia">navy linen. </a><br />
The white fabric is from my stash. It is a lovely embroidered white cotton that was hiding underneath some other white fabric, a very exciting find. I have masses of the white fabric so I think I will make 2 tops. You can never have enough white tops in summer.<br />
These are the patterns I have pulled out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6KM9gr_M7QG44I_FMPYcB0su4oJPlXBfQmiqHcqLfIRqVyWNJXAFCOWUNi30stEDHScW68N8bLRlfXcIeA7ho0NO5gMQ1vYJ4w42XyZ6lV66ZupoSY2ikuYEeaVRT3mF5yRihPQdagpSV/s1600/IMG_1310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6KM9gr_M7QG44I_FMPYcB0su4oJPlXBfQmiqHcqLfIRqVyWNJXAFCOWUNi30stEDHScW68N8bLRlfXcIeA7ho0NO5gMQ1vYJ4w42XyZ6lV66ZupoSY2ikuYEeaVRT3mF5yRihPQdagpSV/s320/IMG_1310.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>
I have made the Simplicity 1660 before and that was a really nice pattern. I have made McCall's 5050 many times over the years and will probably use this one for a top. The other 2 patterns I haven't used, McCall's 7125 and Butterick 5356. I like the sleeves in the McCall's and the shape in the Butterick. I think either would be fine.<br />
The pants I am using are Style Arc Tessa Pant. A simple elastic waist pant.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am hoping this will be my summer linen pants pattern.<br />
This is step 1 in my Summer Wardrobe plan.<br />

I probably thought about sewing at least 30 minutes a day though . I did some sewing and finished off a couple of items. All the patterns were by <a href="http://www.stylearc.com.au/stylearc/">Style Arc </a>the Ursula Ponte Skirt, the Rita Ponte Skirt and the Kim Swing Top.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR4mhan4j97eTBiedUGT-OiPKapu4Yo_ZDQWSdGmtRDan6GsHZsrJKb8hPWxTQsoxYThbmBpCr6FNM_QF3SIrBezrYu_pExPBsNVH0r6nXZvPTo4-MUw7MZdpYrtwjIJM1TPu5idwC5v8L/s1600/IMG_1204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR4mhan4j97eTBiedUGT-OiPKapu4Yo_ZDQWSdGmtRDan6GsHZsrJKb8hPWxTQsoxYThbmBpCr6FNM_QF3SIrBezrYu_pExPBsNVH0r6nXZvPTo4-MUw7MZdpYrtwjIJM1TPu5idwC5v8L/s320/IMG_1204.JPG" width="191" /></a></div>
The Kim Swing top is a really nice top. The fabric I used was a ponte which is probably too thick for this drapey top but I had it in my stash and it went with the skirt. I'm not wrapped in the colour, it reminds me of daggy school uniforms, but it was fine. The top is also too long for the skirt but I'm sure I can wear this top with pants. I added a band to the sleeves because they were a bit short for the cooler weather. and the thickness of the fabric. I made this top straight out of the envelope. I will definitely be making this top again in a lovely drapey knit.<br />
The skirt was so easy. Next time I will peg it in slightly and make it a bit longer. A super quick make.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX33EmQxVxpeH_geylFF7ToVGMkFvodQlTKgCYfvrbN-eqrRw7ZD9tJWWJQR4FvwBOWaj8Jl1pfCRRodR3j4RlMO-hOa-vPtGoem6HsDJF76GOTGHsm6kqeEwHT2m5ZEbOKJotal1MMiK1/s1600/IMG_1298.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX33EmQxVxpeH_geylFF7ToVGMkFvodQlTKgCYfvrbN-eqrRw7ZD9tJWWJQR4FvwBOWaj8Jl1pfCRRodR3j4RlMO-hOa-vPtGoem6HsDJF76GOTGHsm6kqeEwHT2m5ZEbOKJotal1MMiK1/s320/IMG_1298.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The fabric was a lovely Ponti I bought from <a href="http://tessuti.com.au/surry-hills/">Tessuti's</a> last year.<br />
The other skirt fabric was from my stash; plus I used the remnants from the Rita skirt which I used for the panels. It was a bit short for my liking so I added a band to the hem.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikGH40tXsnvy_X0pk5ONUi24GcJpkk4baI4a0Ty4owpcPz2ImIOY2rU7X63x0CjMddQL-V4fRr8_TBzd_avVt9fGjQDSwUAfUBjJIGXIvgtwJePqOCSgi5DVpF9EwcewGbMKGLJAIVKHRZ/s1600/IMG_1266.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikGH40tXsnvy_X0pk5ONUi24GcJpkk4baI4a0Ty4owpcPz2ImIOY2rU7X63x0CjMddQL-V4fRr8_TBzd_avVt9fGjQDSwUAfUBjJIGXIvgtwJePqOCSgi5DVpF9EwcewGbMKGLJAIVKHRZ/s320/IMG_1266.JPG" width="124" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Ursula skirt was a bit tighter which could have been the fabric as well but I think it fits better.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO7_Nwwv5aLOsQ5M1QKwGwHcFuHSL0LUqLeDANL5Xx_LtqMk5nUQLNsHPq4hjz1E5QmgerQVw5DRafZJAe7reAas8d0OSrZ1vjxI6_kSSXFXPD1x69kS9Bt-8qca6xvpWOE1vbZw_6URvH/s1600/IMG_1303.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO7_Nwwv5aLOsQ5M1QKwGwHcFuHSL0LUqLeDANL5Xx_LtqMk5nUQLNsHPq4hjz1E5QmgerQVw5DRafZJAe7reAas8d0OSrZ1vjxI6_kSSXFXPD1x69kS9Bt-8qca6xvpWOE1vbZw_6URvH/s320/IMG_1303.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
In this photo you can see the side band and hem band. It was great to use up some leftover fabric.<br />
All these were good patterns that were very easy to make.<br />
<br />

Time flies. I have done some sewing but I need to get some pictures. I also want to follow Star threads<a href="http://starsthreads.blogspot.com.au/">http://starsthreads.blogspot.com.au/</a> to sew or do something related to seeing for thirty minutes. Well it's the 2nd and I spent at least, if not more and bought fabric on line. I<br />

I know it will only last for a short time but every year I struggle. I have some lovely winter fabrics that I bought years and years ago. I always have ideas but never get around to sewing this fabric into winter garments.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMybG-z6r32rfbKX-3FmT0u2Srm9pVRjtTtyJso7rcdL_I1P4psVVeZ0Wt5Z1uzu0_vvBur1_mrC2A9Z5jmmSApmuwRy04ZK-XuzZ7tpAm9X3BJBjkoGsHNxulP4KewB4fJIbCgbbg09A_/s1600/IMG_2349.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMybG-z6r32rfbKX-3FmT0u2Srm9pVRjtTtyJso7rcdL_I1P4psVVeZ0Wt5Z1uzu0_vvBur1_mrC2A9Z5jmmSApmuwRy04ZK-XuzZ7tpAm9X3BJBjkoGsHNxulP4KewB4fJIbCgbbg09A_/s320/IMG_2349.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This year I am going to sew some of this fabric and if I don't sew it up this year I'm going to take it to the Fabric Cave or give it away.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj72WkqpUe2q_rsCini8nhBKV66GXBBq6-WIDJ8M_-NQWl2BsnZzdwcb07BwhGpUEuXgYQBlvK8faYcpKkyJJdztAQlLPNKmO1vdAU2Y4k5u13VoS-xYSOL7z0LTdwIn7KIdyxl-DyBquJ0/s1600/IMG_2348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj72WkqpUe2q_rsCini8nhBKV66GXBBq6-WIDJ8M_-NQWl2BsnZzdwcb07BwhGpUEuXgYQBlvK8faYcpKkyJJdztAQlLPNKmO1vdAU2Y4k5u13VoS-xYSOL7z0LTdwIn7KIdyxl-DyBquJ0/s320/IMG_2348.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
So its winter holidays now. I have 3 weeks off. I do have marking and some preparation for a presentation but I'm exhausted, it has been a difficult 2 terms with very challenging students so I decided I needed to rest, stay home and hopefully sew some of my winter fabrics. I am really looking forward to this break.<br />
That's my pledge to myself. Wish me luck!<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing!<br />
